founded in 2020 by Alex Delange and David Belanger, Meeting House tattoo was built on big dreams, a deep love for the craft, and the grit to bring it all to life by hand with an unwavering commitment to doing things their own way.

Meeting House Tattoo started as a daydream—something we’d talk about when we were first getting into tattooing, unsure if it would ever actually happen. over the years Life moved forward, and we focused on building our families, our careers, and honing our craft. The idea of opening a shop was always there, but we weren’t in a rush. We knew that if we were going to do it, it had to be done right.

In 2018, we started seriously considering it again. We even looked at a space, but the timing wasn’t right and We didn’t want to force it. Meeting House was always meant to be something special—a landmark in Grand Rapids tattooing and we weren’t going to settle for anything less.

Then 2020 hit. Like everyone else, we found ourselves in lockdown with a lot of time to think. One day, David spotted a small handwritten “For Rent” sign in the window of a building—and called Alex immediately. We both knew: this was the place. It had everything we’d pictured for Meeting House. So with the help of Brayden, Nate, and Rueben, we got to work. We built it all ourselves—from the front counter to the wash stations. Every inch was made with intention, care, and the hands of our community.

Meeting House officially opened as soon as the city reopened. At first, it was a private collective—appointment only, as people were still a little leery of going out in public for an adventure. But we missed the energy of a true street shop, and it turned out our clients did too. We launched Walk-In Wednesdays, and they took off—crowded lobbies, lists packed with 20+ names. That momentum sparked a shift. As our crew grew, so did our vision. Today, we proudly operate as a full-service street shop, accepting walk-ins when we can while continuing to take appointments for larger, custom work.

Meeting House is for everyone—from the seasoned tattoo collector to someone getting their first piece. Our goal is to deliver tattoos built to last and designed to mean something, while making the experience just as memorable as the art itself.
